Hamilton Recreation Center Amenities

Fitness/Strength Training Area

Hamilton Recreation CenterThis is the place to come to get and stay in shape! This area includes the new Trixter XDream Bikes, Precor Ellipticals, Precor Treadmills, Precor AMT's, Precor Stair Steppers, Precor Bikes, Life Fitness Bikes, Star Trac E-spinners, Keiser M3 Spin Bikes, Concept II Rowers, Sci-Fit Upper body Ergometers, 32 pieces of Precor selectorized equipment, and 29 pieces of Hammer Strength equipment.  A knowledgeable student employee is always on duty to answer questions, demonstrate proper technique as well as proper use, and maintain the equipment.  Plyo boxes, Bosu balls, med-balls, and many other accessories are available on the floor or for check-out at the Fitness Kiosk with a MAVcard.

Group Exercise and Cycling Studios

Group X ClassesThe group exercise studio hosts just under forty different types of group exercise classes on our floating Maple floor.  This room is loaded with mirrors, state of the art sound system, flat screen televisions, and all the accessories needed to get you on the road to a healthier lifestyle. The cycling studio includes 24 brand new Keiser M3 spin bikes along with a100-inch projection screen for movies, television, or workouts.  Throw in our brand new sound system and you are set to tackle any of our cycling classes. Recreation Gymnasium

This is the venue for open recreation activities as well as intramural sports.  The most popular activities that are conducted in this area are basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, dodge ball, and badminton.  The gym is almost always available for pick-up basketball.  Volleyball courts and indoor soccer courts can be reserved for weekly play.  Basketballs, volleyballs, and indoor soccer balls are available for free check out at the Front Desk with a MAVcard.

Racquetball Courts

The Hamilton Recreation Center houses two championship racquetball/handball/wallyball courts.  Each court has a glass back wall for spectator viewing.  Court reservations may be made for one business day in advanced by calling the Front Desk at 970.248.1592.  A student supervisor will assist participants with setting up the wallyball court.  Eye guards as well as a wallyball kit (net and ball) may be checked out for free; racquetball rackets are available to check out and racquetballs can be checked at the Front Desk.

Indoor Track

Running/Jogging TrackThe Student Recreation Center indoor track is open for running, jogging, and walking.  The track is two lanes wide and is composed of flexible rubber surface.  It takes 6 laps to cover a mile in the inside lane.  The unique shape to our track includes a number of right and left hand turns along with a small incline.   Hand held lap counters are available for free check out at the Fitness Kiosk with a MAVcard.

Treasure Island Babysitting Service

Treasure Island is open to recreation center members that need a place to leave their kids while enjoying the facility.  Treasure Island is open to any member and is loaded with lots of fun and educational things for kids to do while their parents workout.  Parents must remain on site and maximum stay is 2-hours.  Pricing available at the recreation center front desk.

Climbing Wall

The climbing wall was designed to challenge the skill, physical endurance, and flexibility of novice and advanced climbers alike.  There are seven top rope climbing routes on 28 foot high, 812 square foot contoured wall with an overhang.  A trained student attendant is always on site to ensure safety measures are followed, as well as provide advice.  All climbers are expected to bring a partner for belaying.  All climbers and belayers must show competence in knot tying as well as belaying techniques.  All required climbing gear is provided for free with a MAVcard. Normal Hours are: Monday-Friday 12 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturday 3 p.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Specific hours are posted at the climbing wall. For more information, please contact the Outdoor Program at 970.248.1428.
